The Plascon Colour Forecast has been a trusted source of inspiration for nearly 20 years. It started in 1999 as a way for the brand to give customers a view into what was happening globally in the world of colour, back when that kind of information was only something professionals had access to. Over the years the public has become more connected into the world of trends and the Forecast has remained a thought leader in paint and colour, by curating the most relevant shifts at play and filtering them through a uniquely South African sensibility. Now, as when it started, it presents a view on colour trends that is globally minded and relevant to our local taste and lifestyle.
To put together the Forecast every year, the experts in the Kansai Plascon Colour Team start by spending time immersing themselves in international trends in the worlds of art, design, fashion, interiors and, of course, paint. This year, the team partnered with WGSN to help gain even deeper insight into the trends at play. This global agency is a leader in trend forecasting, and trusted by creatives around the world as a source for the latest trend insight.
In keeping with Kansai Plascon’s new “Designed for Life” focus, the Forecast is even more geared towards providing easy-to-use guidance to bring colour trends to life. “We know that for most people, choosing colour can be really daunting, so it’s our mission as a brand to make colour accessible and fun, so whether you’re a professional needing some inspiration or you’re looking to bring an on-trend look into your own home, the Forecast is your personal guide to the world of colour trends.” explains Beverly Moore, Operations and Customer Manager, Kansai Plascon Group Marketing. “
This new focus on demystifying colour choice has also shaped the way the Kansai Plascon Colour Team chose their Colour of the Year. It was no small task picking a colour that captures the global mood but is also easy for everyone to use. However, it was a challenge the team was more than up for, and the result is one that they’re sure people are going to love using in their décor projects.
The 2018 Plascon Colour Forecast launches on the 9th of August 2017, when all the themes and colours for the year will be revealed. After this, it will be available in Plascon stockists nationwide. As always, a printed booklet is complementary, so anyone can go in store and pick up a copy for all the colour inspiration they need, or visit www.plascon.com
